BAFBF is the first and only 527 set up to get more Blacks involved in the Republican Party. Our immediate focus is on the Black entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurs are the leaders of our community—not the Jesse Jacksons and the Al Sharptons. We are not aligned with any of the presidential campaigns. Republicans average 9% of the Black vote during presidential elections. Our goal is to work NOW to be able to deliver at least 15% of the Black vote to our eventual nominee in November.
During the past seven years, many opportunities for Black business owners have all but dried up. Banks refuse to loan money to small and minority businesses. During George W. Bush’s presidency, Blacks received 8% of all loans by the Small Business Administration (SBA); under Obama, the number is down to 1.8%.
Mathematically, if we can increase the Black support of Republicans to 15%, Democrats cannot win a national election. We think a 15% goal for the Black community is very doable during this election cycle.
