The month of June is celebrated as Black Music Month (BMM). It was first celebrated by President Jimmy Carter back in 1979 and has been recognized by every president since.
This year's event is titled:
“Celebrating Black Music Month—Past, Present, and Future.”
We put together a panel of music legends to help us celebrate this soulful occasion:
Sam Moore, Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member. One of his best known songs is “I’m a Soul Man.”
Carvin Haggins, multi-Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer.
BriaMarie, rising R&B/Hip Hop artist.
Marlon Jackson, multi-Grammy Award winning singer, member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and original member of the Jackson 5.
